Mad Science Programs

Fire Wind and Ice

Audience members learn the difference between science and magic, and witness the unique power of fire, heat, and a partial vacuum. The scientist will perform gravity-defying feats using principles of air pressure and airflow. Finally, the audience will get to experience bubbling dry-ice effects and learn about sublimation.

Up, Up, and Away!

This show is all about the power of air pressure. Children will be amazed when they watch a vortex generator fire smoke rings through the air and see a hot hair balloon rise all the way  to the ceiling! The scientists will demonstrate the principles of flight using toilet paper, and create a controlled endothermic explosion. Volunteers can even float across the stage on our Mad Science Hovercraft!

Sounds like Science

The Sounds Like Science program gets children excited about science, with a particular focus on the science of sound. Kids will get tuned-in to learning for forty five minutes, with exciting demonstrations and experiments including the surprisingly loud Dinosaur-in-a-Can and a kid-created Thunder Storm! They will watch as a chemical reaction causes sparks to fly, and see what happens when a pickle is electrified!

It’s Not Magic

This is a special event demonstrating the science of magic tricks. This 45 minute program features incredible demonstrations that help children to visualize key chemistry and physics concepts. Volunteers  from the audience safely help the instructor perform eye catching experiments like sitting on a bed of nails. Children will love the Mad Science “It’s Not Magic” Special Event and get excited about further investigating the world of science! Science Objectives: friction, problem solving, chemical reactions and properties, surface area and pressure.
